Mariana County runs on saltwater, cold beer, and plausible deniability. Two supporting characters anchor Jason Duval’s daily life down in the Leonida Keys: veteran marina boss Brian Heder and paranoid couch philosopher Cal Hampton.

Brian Heder: Golden-Age Drug Runner

Owner of Brian’s Boat Works & Marina, Brian Heder is a sun-leathered relic from the 1980s smuggling boom. Now married to his third wife Lori, Brian still moves product through his boatyard — outsourcing the bruised knuckles to Jason. Fans instantly noted Brian’s uncanny vocal and visual resemblance to character actor Stephen Root.

Cal Hampton prefers a six-pack, open browser tabs, and a tuned Coast Guard scanner.

Cal Hampton: Fringe Theories That Might Be True

Jason’s buddy Cal Hampton — widely rumored among fans to be voiced by chef-actor Matty Matheson — feels safest indoors eavesdropping on Coast Guard frequencies and spiraling down fringe internet rabbit holes. In classic Rockstar fashion, half of Cal’s paranoid rants may turn out to be dead-on intelligence when federal heat closes in.

The level of environmental detail Rockstar squeezed out of base PS5 hardware is still wild to me. Counting down every day to November 19.

Great breakdown — appreciate that you separate confirmed Rockstar info from the 2022 debug leaks and fan theories.
